Job description

We are hiring an Application & Database Server Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity supporting a large-scale airport technology environment. This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing critical enterprise applications, databases, and application server platforms to ensure system reliability, availability, and data integrity. The ideal candidate will support mission-critical systems, integrations, and database environments while providing advanced operational support., * Administer enterprise database platforms including SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar technologies.

  • Perform database configuration, patching, backup management, recovery operations, and performance tuning.
  • Manage application servers and middleware platforms such as IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic, or similar technologies.
  • Monitor database and application performance and resolve issues affecting availability, performance, or data integrity.
  • Execute routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, and version management for application and database environments.
  • Support integrations, APIs, and data exchanges between enterprise systems and business applications.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues, implement updates, and coordinate service requests.
  • Perform backup, restore, disaster recovery, replication, and business continuity activities.
  • Maintain documentation for databases, application configurations, operational procedures, and system architecture.
  • Assist with migrations, environment refreshes, server provisioning, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for application and database incidents impacting business operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Vendor communication?, * 5-7 years of experience supporting enterprise databases and application server environments.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar database platforms, including performance tuning, backup strategies, indexing, and security.
  • Experience managing IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic, or comparable application and middleware platforms.
  • Understanding of APIs, data integrations, ETL processes, stored procedures, and system interoperability.
  • Experience supporting high-availability environments, disaster recovery solutions, and failover strategies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot application performance issues, database errors, and connectivity problems.
  • Familiarity with enterprise business applications, financial systems, HR systems, GIS platforms, asset management systems, or similar enterprise solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with developers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Certifications related to SQL Server, Oracle DBA, Windows Server, Linux, or cloud database technologies are preferred.
