Job description

We’re partnering with an industry-leading technology organization seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join its Product Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex hardware challenges, performing hands-on troubleshooting, and supporting sophisticated communication systems throughout their lifecycle.

Unlike traditional design-only engineering positions, this role combines advanced technical problem solving, product sustainment, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll become a subject matter expert responsible for diagnosing hardware issues, improving product reliability, and supporting mission-critical electronic systems from production through long-term deployment.

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot and analyze complex digital and mixed-signal circuit boards at both the system and component level.
  • Perform board-level debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Investigate hardware failures, perform root cause analysis, and develop effective recovery solutions.
  • Support products transitioning from engineering into manufacturing and long-term production.
  • Develop technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and repair guides for engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and program management to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Support product lifecycle management, including component obsolescence, hardware improvements, and design recovery efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance and become a subject matter expert on advanced communication hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience designing, debugging, or supporting high-speed digital and mixed-signal hardware.
  • Strong understanding of digital hardware architectures, including processors, FPGAs, memory systems, and embedded electronics.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems at the board and component level.
  • Experience working with high-speed digital interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, SATA, USB, LVDS, or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency using electronic laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, JTAG tools, and digital multimeters.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RF or UHF communication systems.
  • Experience supporting product engineering, sustaining engineering, failure analysis, or hardware validation.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, FPGA development, or firmware.
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or Cadence Allegro.
  • Experience with Linux, Python, LabVIEW, or FPGA development tools (Vivado, Quartus, etc.).

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a technically curious engineer who enjoys solving difficult hardware problems and thrives in a hands-on laboratory environment. We’re looking for someone who can confidently diagnose complex issues, communicate technical findings clearly, and work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines.

This position is well suited for candidates with backgrounds in aerospace, defense, satellite communications, telecommunications, networking equipment, or other industries involving complex embedded electronic systems.

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive base salary: $155,500 - $233,500, with a target hiring range around $194,500, depending on experience.
  • Work on advanced, mission-critical communication technologies.
  • Join a highly collaborative engineering team with excellent long-term stability.
  • Broad technical exposure across digital hardware, mixed-signal electronics, RF systems, manufacturing, and product engineering.
  • Significant hands-on lab work with opportunities to influence products throughout their entire lifecycle.
  • Strong work-life balance and long-term career growth within a highly respected engineering organization.
