Job description

Are you excited about building the orchestration layer that powers billions of ad impressions daily? Our team owns the platform infrastructure for Amazon’s Responsive E-Commerce (REC) ad creative system within Amazon DSP - the critical ā€œpipes and plumbingā€ that orchestrates between creative selection, layout configuration, and rendering systems. This isn’t typical frontend or backend development; it’s specialized ad platform engineering where your work directly impacts millions of dollars in advertising revenue.

You’ll design extensible systems where configuration drives behavior at massive scale, working across multiple partner team boundaries simultaneously. Our engineers operate at the intersection of distributed systems, declarative rule engines, and ad tech domain complexity - designing clean interfaces between systems, building configuration-driven architectures, and making platform decisions that affect production traffic serving display, video, and native ad formats across Amazon’s advertising ecosystem.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable system integrations and API contracts between DCO, Layout Registry, Tenor, and rendering systems, ensuring clean interfaces across team boundaries

  • Develop and maintain configuration-as-code solutions including CEL rules, eligibility logic, AppConfig systems, and layout metadata schemas while managing downstream impact on production traffic

  • Build operational excellence into software development lifecycle including scoping, design, code, testing, deployment and maintenance while actively participating in code reviews and mentoring team members

  • Troubleshoot cross-system issues in the ad serving pipeline, tracing problems from bid requests through rule evaluation to creative rendering and painter dispatch

  • Collaborate with partner teams on integration designs, schema changes, and technical decisions that balance customer requirements with platform scalability

About the team

We’re a team of 8 engineers based primarily in Seattle, owning the platform layer for Amazon’s REC ad creative system that powers billions of display and video ad impressions daily. We operate at the critical intersection of ad serving infrastructure and creative delivery.

Our collaborative and technically rigorous culture maintains high quality standards - we own systems where mistakes have immediate revenue impact, so we value engineers who verify assumptions and communicate clearly across team boundaries. Working closely with 5+ partner teams, we foster an environment of knowledge-sharing and technical excellence where your growth and expertise directly contribute to Amazon’s advertising platform innovation.
