The IT Network Engineer is responsible for the administration, deployment, monitoring, upgrading, and support of all Information Technology related systems, including servers, PCs, LAN/WAN switching and routing, operating systems, security, wireless systems, storage solutions, PC hardware, software, and peripherals, and all telephony related hardware for an enterprise-level Unified Communications systems. On a typical day, you might:
- Administer, maintain and support the Agency’s data, voice & security systems infrastructure, including the Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), all servers, PCs, switches, routers, printers and miscellaneous peripheral equipment; make recommendations for future hardware or software additions or enhancements.

Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information, managing projects.
- Monitor problem/change activities and coordinates involvement of technical and staff and vendors to ensure effective implementation of new or enhanced systems and resolution of user problems.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in VLAN?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Required:

High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience in server operating system (Microsoft Server, Linux) or hardware administration, TCP/IP Networking (Routing / Switching / Subnets / Masks / Vlans), DHCP / DNS. Requires certification. Applicable certification(s) may be substituted to equivalent degree and experience requirements.; OR
- Associate’s degree and minimum one (1) year of experience in server operating system (Microsoft Server, Linux) or hardware administration, TCP/IP Networking (Routing / Switching / Subnets / Masks / Vlans), DHCP / DNS. Requires certification. Applicable certification(s) may be substituted to equivalent degree and experience requirements.; OR
- Equivalent combination of education/experience.
- High School/GED and Two-year degrees require certification.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must reside within North Carolina.
Preferred:

Experience with two (2) or more of the following:
- Network Security including firewalls, IDS/IPS
- Cloud Computing with Azure, AWS, Google, Private clouds)
- Data protection including backup/recovery and replication
- Administration of virtual Server environments such as Vmware, HyperV, Acropolis
- Email administration
- Microsoft Active Directory

Wireless LAN (WIFI)
- Project Management

VOIP Systems (Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, 3CX, Shoretel, or others)
- Network +, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, PMP, Vmware, Google, Aws, Azure will be accepted.
