Job description

As our next Senior Systems Engineer based in Richardson, TX or Cedar Rapids, IA , you’ll immerse yourself in developing system designs and validating these multiple domain Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) mission systems solutions used on the aircraft and ground stations being developed for our military customers. Primary responsibility will be focusing on customer needs and requirements in order to design, develop, and analyze both hardware and software systems, ranging from black box to the complex end-to-end platform systems.

This position requires: US Government Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance Day 1 with the ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance after start.

What YOU will do:

  • Capture, analyze, decompose, and trace System requirements

  • Design, develop, and model systems and sub-systems

  • Develop and verify test procedures at the system and sub-system levels

  • Plan project level work and meet schedule, cost, and performance goals

  • Manage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects

  • Interact with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Business Developers, Finance, Quality, and Production

  • Represent Systems engineering team at internal and external stakeholder meetings

  • Travel occasionally (<10%) to support program requirements

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain Top Secret after start.

  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving system/sub-system requirements

  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools

  • Experience in system/sub-system design definition

Qualifications We prefer:

  • Exposure to VLF, LF, HF, V/UHF, and/or MILSATCOM

  • Knowledge of SysML implementation via Cameo/MagicDraw/Rhapsody

  • Worked with requirements in DOORS

  • Understanding of Agile development

  • Exposure to Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Experience in communication with external stakeholders

  • Experience in bids, proposals, and pursuits

  • Understanding of peer review, configuration, and change management processes

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
