Job description

Our client is a Houston-based manufacturer undergoing significant technology transformation across its core business systems. They are seeking an Enterprise Solution Architect to own the architecture strategy for ERP, CRM, and custom application platforms, bridging business strategy and technical execution.

This is a hands-on architecture leadership role, equal parts governance and execution. The right person can set enterprise standards one day and dive into troubleshooting an integration issue the next.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the enterprise application architecture blueprint, standards, and reference models
  • Lead architecture governance through design reviews and architecture review board participation
  • Set integration, data, and security architecture standards across the organization
  • Design end-to-end solutions spanning ERP, CRM, and custom-built applications
  • Define integration patterns (APIs, event-driven, data pipelines) for scalable, reusable architecture
  • Ensure systems are built for performance, security, high availability, and disaster recovery
  • Provide architectural oversight for major ERP and CRM transformation initiatives
  • Translate business requirements into technology solutions and long-term roadmaps
  • Partner with application owners, business stakeholders, and product teams to evolve core systems
  • Guide solution architects, developers, and vendors on adherence to architecture standards
  • Review and approve high- and low-level designs for major initiatives
  • Identify risk and build mitigation into solution designs from the start
  • Drive consistency across projects to reduce technical debt and duplication
  • Evaluate vendors, tools, and platforms for architectural fit
  • Manage technical dependencies and ensure interoperability across systems
  • Act as a hands-on architect when needed, contributing to design, prototyping, and development
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across business applications, integrations, and data flows
  • Review and optimize code, scripts, and configurations against architecture standards
  • Provide technical guidance during development, deployment, and production support
  • Balance strategic architecture ownership with practical, in-the-trenches execution

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; Master’s or MBA a plus
  • 10+ years in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or senior engineering roles
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing ERP platforms (Epicor, SyteLine, or similar) and CRM systems, plus enterprise integrations
  • Strong cloud architecture background, Azure strongly preferred, including API and data platform experience
  • Track record leading large-scale ERP, CRM, or data modernization initiatives
  • Solid grasp of application architecture patterns, domain-driven design, and business process modeling
  • Experience with application-layer integrations and workflow orchestration
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF or equivalent)
  • Experience with REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and microservices
  • Background in data architecture and governance, including modeling, pipelines, and analytics platforms
  • Cloud platform experience (Azure preferred) and familiarity with DevOps practices
  • Understanding of data governance and security concepts (RBAC, data lineage)
  • TOGAF and/or Microsoft Azure certifications a plus
