Job description

We’re hiring a Platform Engineer to help build the future of software management on macOS.

This role is for an exceptional systems engineer and software developer who loves working close to the operating system. You’ll help design and build the core technology that powers Workbrew’s macOS offerings, including native applications, device management integrations, security controls, software distribution systems, and developer tooling.

The ideal candidate combines deep macOS expertise with strong systems programming fundamentals and a security-first mindset. They are equally comfortable building native applications in Swift, designing backend services in Go, and debugging complex interactions between applications, operating systems, and infrastructure.

This is a hands-on engineering role with significant technical influence. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and security teams to define the future of Workbrew’s product offering.

In this role, you will

  • Build and maintain native applications and platform services targeting macOS.
  • Design and implement high-performance backend systems and APIs in Go.
  • Develop secure software distribution, installation, and update mechanisms.
  • Work deeply with macOS frameworks, system services, device management technologies, and operating system internals.
  • Design systems that scale reliably across hundreds of managed devices.
  • Investigate and resolve complex platform, performance, and reliability issues.
  • Help shape Workbrew’s security architecture across endpoints, applications, infrastructure, and software supply chains.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to make thoughtful technical and architectural decisions.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, code reviews, testing practices, and operational excellence.

Success in this role looks like

  • Reliable, performant platform services that scale with customer growth.
  • Secure-by-default product architecture and development practices.
  • High-quality native macOS experiences that feel deeply integrated with the platform.
  • Improved reliability, observability, and operational efficiency across Workbrew systems.
  • Delivery of major platform capabilities that become foundational to future product development.

Requirements

Do you have experience in macOS?, * Swift

  • Ruby/Rails

Platform & Infrastructure

  • macOS
  • Apple Device Management (MDM)
  • GitHub
  • CI/CD
  • Infrastructure as Code, * 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise building native macOS applications using Swift.
  • Strong systems engineering background with experience building platform-level software.
  • Expert-level Go programming skills and experience operating production services.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, distributed systems, and application security.
  • Experience designing and maintaining secure software delivery pipelines.
  • Experience debugging complex cross-system issues spanning applications, infrastructure, and operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, endpoint security, and software supply chain security.
  • Excellent written communication skills and comfort working in a highly asynchronous environment.
  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to balance pragmatism with long-term maintainability.

We’d be especially excited if you have

  • Deep knowledge of macOS internals, launchd, system extensions, endpoint security, package management, or Apple device management.
  • Experience building developer tools, platform products, or endpoint management software.
  • Contributions to open source projects.
  • Experience in security-focused or highly regulated environments.
  • Security certifications such as OSCP, CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent practical expertise.
