Job description

We are seeking an ERP Developer to join our team. The right candidate is an early-mid career developer who wants to build a programming career and isn’t afraid of a legacy system. You will write and maintain custom business logic inside our ERP platform (Eclipse, running on a UniVerse Pick/MultiValue database). This is primarily a development role: most of your time will be spent writing code, building integrations, and solving real business problems. You will also own day-to-day IT support, which is both a genuine responsibility and a great way to learn how the business runs., ERP Development & Customization: primary focus (Eclipse / UniVerse)

  • Support Charles McMurray Company’s Mission of “creating the most convenient place for our customers to do business.”
  • Incorporate the our company’s C H I P philosophy into job role: Character, Hospitality, Improvement and Partnership.
  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot custom programs and subroutines within the Eclipse ERP system (written in a BASIC variant on a Pick/MultiValue database)
  • Build and maintain custom reports, including automated scheduling, Excel-formatted output, and nightly file generation.
  • Create and modify dictionary items, data structures, and business logic to support evolving requirements.
  • Maintain and extend order entry, credit authorization, shipping, and invoice processing workflows.
  • Build and maintain integrations: EDI transactions (850, 810, 856, 997) with trading partners, shipping carrier connections (UPS Worldship, FedEx, OnTrac), and the automated manifest system.
  • Perform data uploads, migrations, and maintenance across product, customer, pricing, and vendor files.
  • Develop automations and scripts to reduce manual work (scheduled jobs, monitoring alerts, Power Automate flows)

IT Support & Systems Administration

  • Provide desktop and end-user support across the three company locations: PC setup, troubleshooting, printer and peripheral management.
  • Handle employee onboarding and offboarding IT needs: Active Directory, Microsoft 365, ERP/WMS access, phone extensions, VPN, and MFA
  • Administer and troubleshoot core infrastructure: Windows Server, VMware, print servers, file shares, and the phone system.
  • Support warehouse hardware (handheld scanners, thermal/label printers, manifest stations) and remote access for traveling staff.
  • Manage endpoint security, MFA, and access control; assist with security awareness efforts.
  • Other IT Duties as assigned

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, * · A genuine desire to build a career as a developer. This is the core of the role and where it grows.

  • Demonstrable programming ability in any language (we will ask you to work through a small coding exercise. The language does not matter; the thinking does).
  • We embrace and encourage the use of AI as a development tool, but you must fully understand the code you write and be able to read, debug, and modify it on your own. AI should accelerate your work, not stand in for your understanding of it. We are not looking for “vibe coders”.
  • Comfort with, ideally curiosity about, working in a legacy environment; you should be the kind of person who enjoys becoming the expert on a system, not someone counting the days until they can use a newer stack.
  • Solid general computer and troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to own the IT support side of the role.
  • Strong logical problem-solving and the patience to debug methodically.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to explain technical things in plain language to non-technical users.

Preferred Skills:

  • A degree in computer science, information systems, or related field or equivalent self-taught/bootcamp experience with a portfolio of real work.
  • Any hands-on programming or scripting experience (SQL, Python, JavaScript, C#, BASIC, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Exposure to databases and data modeling concepts.
  • IT support experience in a Windows environment (Active Directory, Microsoft 365, networking basics).
  • Any exposure to ERP systems (Eclipse, SAP, NetSuite, Sage, or similar), EDI, or warehouse/distribution operations.
  • Exposure to Linux, AIX, or other Unix-based systems., Able to do the essential functions of office position. This includes bending, stooping, kneeling and repetitive functions related to standard office desk role. Regular movement between office and warehouse environment. Must be able to lift 40lbs., * Have you previously supported users in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment?
