ONTOLOGY SPECIALIST | 100% REMOTE

The Ontology Specialist will design and maintain healthcare administrative ontologies and knowledge models that support data standardization, interoperability, analytics, and enterprise data initiatives. This role works closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate complex healthcare concepts into formal semantic structures., * Design and maintain ontologies using RDF, OWL, and SKOS

• Align internal data models with healthcare standards including FHIR, SNOMED, and ICD
• Query and validate knowledge graphs using SPARQL
• Translate business and healthcare domain knowledge into formal ontology structures
• Recommend ontology modeling approaches and best practices
• Support graph database design and semantic data integration
• Partner with subject matter experts to develop and maintain enterprise knowledge models
• Support healthcare data interoperability initiatives

Do you have experience in Semantic Web?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree required

• 7+ years of experience in Ontology Engineering, Knowledge Engineering, Data Engineering, Semantic Technologies, or related fields
• Hands-on experience with RDF, OWL, SKOS, and SPARQL
• Experience with ontology authoring tools such as Protégé
• Knowledge of ontology design patterns
• Experience with healthcare standards including FHIR, SNOMED, and ICD
• Graph database experience (Neo4j, TypeDB, ArangoDB, or similar)
• Python experience
• Exposure to SQL, NoSQL, and graph databases
• Experience working with healthcare data, interoperability, terminology services, or knowledge management programs, * SHACL validation experience
• Experience with ontology reasoners such as HermiT, Pellet, or ELK
• UMLS and terminology services experience
• Knowledge graph architecture and semantic modeling expertise
