Job description

You will work alongside multidisciplinary scientists and engineers to transform cutting-edge research into functional prototypes, intellectual property, and real-world technology solutions. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to foundational quantum research while helping build scalable systems that move quantum technologies from the laboratory toward practical deployment., * Design, develop, and optimize quantum photonic devices and subsystems focused on quantum communication, single-photon generation, entanglement distribution, and ultra-low-count measurement techniques.

  • Conduct advanced research in quantum information science, including quantum interference, squeezed states of light, mode decomposition, and other emerging quantum phenomena.
  • Investigate and develop novel quantum-enabled methodologies and applications beyond traditional quantum information processing.
  • Design and execute rigorous experimental programs to characterize quantum photonic devices under varying environmental conditions, including temperature, vibration, and electromagnetic influences.
  • Develop, test, and integrate single-photon sources and quantum photonic components into larger system architectures while maintaining quantum state fidelity and overall system performance.
  • Contribute to the development of quantum information testing infrastructure, including automated measurement platforms, calibration methodologies, and standardized validation processes.
  • Analyze experimental results and communicate findings through technical reports, presentations, publications, and intellectual property disclosures.
  • Collaborate closely with physicists, optical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and fabrication specialists to advance research objectives and deliver technical milestones.
  • Support the transition of concepts from theoretical investigation to prototype demonstration and technology maturation.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of innovation, scientific excellence, and workplace safety.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Validation design?, Do you have a Doctoral degree?, * Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Quantum Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Technical Expertise

Quantum Systems

  • Deep understanding of quantum mechanics and quantum photonic systems, including:
  • Entanglement generation and characterization
  • Quantum state engineering and manipulation
  • Mode decomposition techniques
  • Nonlinear quantum state generation
  • Spin-based quantum systems and associated physics

Optical Systems

  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Laser systems and optical instrumentation
  • Free-space optical alignment
  • Precision optical coupling techniques
  • Photon detection technologies
  • Optical system design and integration

Experimental Research & Instrumentation

  • Experience developing and executing complex experimental programs involving:
  • Chip-scale and integrated photonic testing
  • Precision fiber alignment and packaging
  • Instrument synchronization and automated measurement systems
  • Data acquisition, validation, and statistical analysis
  • Experimental troubleshooting and root-cause investigation

Programming & Data Analysis

  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar scientific programming environments for:
  • Instrument control and automation
  • Data processing and visualization
  • Modeling and analysis of experimental results

Technical Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex scientific concepts and research outcomes through technical reports, publications, presentations, and collaborative discussions., Photonic Design & Simulation
  • Experience with integrated photonics design and simulation tools such as:
  • Lumerical
  • COMSOL Multiphysics
  • CST Studio Suite
  • Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) simulation methods

Electronics & Systems Integration

  • Familiarity with:
  • High-speed electronic systems
  • PCB design and layout
  • Optoelectronic packaging
  • Mixed optical-electrical system integration

Fabrication & Process Development

  • Experience with semiconductor and photonic fabrication techniques, including:
  • Electron-beam lithography
  • Thin-film processing
  • Etching and microfabrication methods
  • Nanofabrication workflows, * Doctorate (Required), * Quantum photonics systems: 4 years (Preferred)
  • Single-photon source development: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Quantum communication research: 3 years (Preferred)
