Job description

Description As the Systems Development Engineer you will assist the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center in the review and assessment of current technologies and the development of new consensus standards for avionics, sensors, and weapon systems. This opportunity is located at Wright-Patterson AFB, in Dayton, Ohio.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform professional systems engineering tasks in support of the development and integration of avionics, sensors, weapon systems, subsystems, and support equipment.

Apply systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to determine performance objectives, integration issues, and document system requirements.

Interact with multiple engineering specializations, and apply consideration of the life-cycle of systems while assisting in translating user requirements into system requirements.

Review existing avionics sensor implementations and associated standards for physical connectors and wiring solutions, leading to the development of future common physical, mechanical, electrical pinout, and cabling interface standards.

Review existing radar, signals intelligence, and communications processing back end implementations leading to the development of common profiles for COTS-based processing cards.

Participate in the systems capability decomposition process, leveraging emerging and existing standards leading to the development of future common hardware standards for avionics and sensors.

Review existing standards for open architecture systems to identify opportunities for standards harmonization, and assist in developing new reference architectures.
