Job description
We are a global leader in automation, conveyor systems, robotics, and material handling solutions serving customers across the food & beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care, automotive, and electronics industries., As a Software Engineer, you will develop and support software solutions for automation, controls, robotics, and material handling systems. You’ll work closely with engineering teams, project managers, technicians, and customers to deliver solutions that improve manufacturing performance and operational efficiency.
This role combines software development, controls engineering, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer interaction. You’ll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design and development through startup, commissioning, and customer support.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support software solutions for automation and process control systems
- Configure and support DCS, PLC, and industrial control systems
- Lead software design, configuration, commissioning, and startup activities
- Develop and maintain software documentation and revision controls
- Create and modify HMI graphics and operator interfaces
- Train customers on system functionality and operation
- Troubleshoot and resolve software, controls, and operational issues
- Interface directly with customers, vendors, and project teams
- Support firmware and hardware integration efforts
- Participate in functional testing and equipment validation
- Configure control systems to safely support manufacturing operations
- Support robotics and automation projects
- Work with sensors, barcode readers, RFID technologies, and industrial devices
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel, project leaders, and engineering teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- OR 8+ years of process control experience in an industrial environment
- Experience with DCS, PLC, and industrial control systems
- Experience with process control and instrumentation tuning
- 2+ years of software development experience
- Experience with C++, C#, Visual Basic, Java or similar programming languages
- Experience with SQL and relational database management systems
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities
- Ability to travel approximately 25%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial automation and process control environments
- Experience commissioning automation systems
- Knowledge of robotics and material handling systems
- Experience with Wonderware, PanelView, Conductor NT, OIS25, or similar HMI platforms
- Experience with sensors, barcode readers, and RFID technologies
- Understanding of pneumatics, valves, actuators, and industrial control devices
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
