Job description

  • Administer and support enterprise SAN fabrics supporting mainframe FICON environments.
  • Manage director-class SAN platforms, including X6 and X7 environments.
  • Support large-scale SAN deployments with multiple logical switches.
  • Perform SAN zoning, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, and performance analysis.
  • Support FICON connectivity for IBM z15 and z16 mainframe environments.
  • Manage SAN infrastructure supporting enterprise storage arrays and tape systems.
  • Support storage replication fabrics using SX6 blades.
  • Administer Metro Mirror and regional replication connectivity.
  • Support PPRC connectivity in a GDPS environment.
  • Utilize FOS command-line tools for SAN administration and troubleshooting.
  • Leverage SANnav Management Portal for monitoring and operational visibility.
  • Collaborate with mainframe, storage, network, and infrastructure teams on changes, incidents, and upgrades.
  • Participate in SAN maintenance, firmware planning, configuration validation, and change execution.
  • Identify opportunities to automate routine SAN administration tasks through scripting.

Requirements

Do you have a valid CCP Data Engineer certification?, Do you have experience in UNIX?, The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with FICON SAN management, Fibre Channel, FCoE, SAN directors, FOS command-line administration, SANnav Management Portal, GDPS, PPRC connectivity, and storage replication support., * Strong experience administering FICON SAN environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Fibre Channel, FCoE, and enterprise SAN networking.
  • Strong knowledge of SAN directors.
  • Experience with director models such as, * Strong FOS command-line administration experience.
  • Experience with SANnav Management Portal.
  • Experience supporting large SAN environments with multiple directors and logical switches.
  • Knowledge of FICON fabrics supporting IBM mainframe platforms.
  • Experience supporting SAN connectivity for enterprise storage and tape systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across SAN, FICON, storage replication, and connectivity issues.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with IBM z15 and z16 mainframe environments.
  • Experience with enterprise storage arrays.
  • Experience with enterprise tape environments.
  • Knowledge of GDPS environments.
  • Experience with PPRC connectivity administration.
  • Experience supporting Metro Mirror and regional replication fabrics.
  • Experience with SX6 blades for storage replication.
  • Scripting experience with Python, Perl, or similar languages for SAN automation.
  • Ability to automate repetitive FOS command-line tasks.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level SAN Engineer with deep experience in mainframe FICON SAN operations and enterprise director-class environments. This individual should be comfortable working from the command line, supporting complex SAN fabrics, troubleshooting replication connectivity, and collaborating with mainframe and storage teams in a mission-critical infrastructure environment.
