Job description
NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking an IT Systems Administrator I to join our Home Office in Houston, TX. We believe in empowerment, open communication, and a culture where your ideas matter. The IT Systems Administrator I supports and maintains NorthStar’s cloud-based infrastructure and enterprise technology platforms for approximately 2,400 users across 85 locations. This role contributes to infrastructure operations, cloud engineering, security initiatives, and modernization efforts.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional with strong experience in Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, networking, and enterprise systems administration. This individual will work closely with infrastructure engineers and IT leadership to maintain reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support business growth.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Entra ID, Teams, SharePoint Online).
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, cloud, and application issues; serve as an escalation point for support teams.
- Contribute to cloud modernization, infrastructure improvements, documentation, disaster recovery readiness, and deployment of new technologies.
- Support identity, access, security, compliance, and vulnerability remediation efforts in partnership with IT Security.
- Assist with networking and distributed site support, including firewall, connectivity, and performance troubleshooting., * Maintaining secure, stable, and scalable infrastructure.
- Improving operational efficiency and supporting modernization initiatives.
- Providing dependable support to both remote and on-site users.
- Participating in after-hours maintenance, on-call rotations, and occasional travel as needed.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Computer science?, * Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in systems or cloud administration.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and/or AWS.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management, enterprise networking, and security best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and collaborate effectively across technical teams.
- Valid driver’s license., * Certifications in Microsoft, Azure, AWS, Fortinet, or related technologies.
- Experience with PowerShell, automation tools, SQL support, or infrastructure modernization.
- Familiarity with PCI, NIST, or similar regulatory frameworks.
- Experience supporting large, multi-site organizations.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
