Job description

SITEC is seeking a Software/Systems Engineer to support a high-visibility Department of Defense software program focused on mission planning, systems engineering, software sustainment, and modernization. This role supports a dynamic technical team responsible for improving, sustaining, and enhancing mission-critical software capabilities used across operational planning environments.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting software-intensive systems, systems engineering processes, Agile development environments, technical documentation, requirements analysis, configuration management, risk management, and coordination with government and contractor stakeholders.

This position offers the opportunity to support innovative technology, digital engineering, and modern software development practices within a collaborative DoD program environment., * Apply systems engineering processes to support software analysis, development, testing, deployment, sustainment, and technical documentation.

  • Review, analyze, and document emerging software and system requirements.
  • Review, analyze, and document software defects, technical issues, and proposed resolutions.
  • Analyze the impact of changes to system requirements, interfaces, software functionality, and technical documentation.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to collect feedback and identify opportunities for system improvement.
  • Support working groups focused on resolving engineering, software, and technical challenges.
  • Participate in analysis and documentation related to cybersecurity, system security, and software assurance.
  • Collaborate with software developers and technical teams supporting DevSecOps modernization efforts.
  • Provide technical input for project plans, schedules, roadmaps, cost estimates, and program documentation.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, status updates, metrics, and technical analysis for leadership review.
  • Participate in change management, configuration management, and technical review boards.
  • Review vendor-produced engineering artifacts, technical models, and system documentation.
  • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering efforts and contribute to system descriptions and technical baselines.
  • Coordinate with test and evaluation teams to support software assessment and verification activities.
  • Conduct technical risk management, tracking, and mitigation planning.
  • Assist with vendor tasking, technical guidance, oversight, and review of contract deliverables.
  • Support technical meetings, program reviews, and engineering discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Agile software development practices.
  • Support backlog grooming, backlog prioritization, sprint reviews, program increment reviews, and capability evaluations.
  • Contribute to process improvement and product improvement initiatives for mission planning software.
  • Advise and assist government leadership in planning and implementing systems engineering and digital engineering guidance.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Verification (System development task)?, * Experience supporting DoD, federal, or mission-critical software systems.

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering, software development, and technical documentation processes.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, defect tracking, risk management, and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices and DevSecOps concepts.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, technical stakeholders, software developers, vendors, and government customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, leadership briefings, schedules, and program documentation.
  • Willingness to travel periodically in support of program needs.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with digital engineering or Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Experience supporting software sustainment, modernization, or migration efforts.
  • Experience participating in technical review boards, working groups, and program management reviews.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity, system security, or software assurance activities.
  • Experience supporting Agile development ceremonies and software delivery planning.
