Virtual Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Virtual Systems Engineer with strong technical expertise in virtual infrastructure, systems administration, and troubleshooting complex operational issues. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, improving service reliability, and collaborating with stakeholders to identify and implement effective solutions.

Position Responsibilities

· Review existing operational events, incidents, and processes to identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and enhanced service capabilities, with a focus on system availability and performance.

· Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and operational issues and work with stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate solutions.

· Assess and report on vulnerabilities and risks associated with the agency’s virtual server and container hosting environments.

· Assist in the development, execution, and documentation of quality control processes to support service uptime, operational stability, and performance objectives.

· Contribute to infrastructure planning, operational support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Strong knowledge of network switching technologies within Dell blade server environments and firewall management for virtual infrastructures.

· Experience administering and supporting VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).

· Experience with VMware Aria Operations Suite for monitoring, performance management, and operational analytics.

· Demonstrated experience with at least three (3) of the following technology areas:

o VMware (Broadcom) products, such as vCenter, vSphere, and related technologies.

o Omnissa (formerly VMware) products, such as Workspace ONE, Horizon VDI, and related solutions.

o Microsoft Windows Server and/or Linux-based server operating systems.

o Dell and/or HPE blade and rack server hardware platforms.

o Container platforms and Kubernetes-based infrastructure, including Tanzu, Docker, or similar technologies.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the degree requirement (typically an additional five years of relevant experience).
