Artificial Intelligence Artificial Neural Networks Data Infrastructure Geospatial Intelligence Machine Learning Reinforcement Learning Data Processing Information Technology

Job description

A geospatial intelligence company is building the next generation of AI systems that extract meaningful answers from high-resolution aerial imagery, and they need Senior Data Scientists who can think at the frontier. You’ll work on cutting-edge problems in representation learning, embeddings, and/or reinforcement learning, sitting downstream of the imagery pipeline. No GPU wrangling. No data infrastructure headaches. Just hard, important science.

Two roles, one team, one mission. The first focuses on representation learning and embeddings - building the foundational infrastructure that lets the company ask meaningful questions of aerial imagery at scale: designing embedding pipelines, training models using contrastive and self-supervised approaches, and developing the similarity search systems that underpin next-generation geospatial products. The second is centered on reinforcement learning and decision systems - applying sequential decision modeling and reward-function design to optimize real-world spatial workflows, building the intelligent closed-loop systems that will define the company’s 2027 direction. Both roles sit downstream of the image processing pipeline, so the work is pure science: no data wrangling, no infrastructure headaches.

You’ll own your problems end to end - designing and evaluating models, generating hypotheses, testing them rigorously, and translating findings into real product impact. You’ll provide technical leadership to distributed team members in India and the Philippines, and you’ll be expected to drive, not wait to be driven.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Machine intelligence?, The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, with deep foundations in neural networks and transformer architectures rather than remote sensing or GIS. You’re a strong reasoner and benchmarker who can frame ambiguous problems and measure progress, and you own your work - you don’t need to be managed, you manage yourself. Above all, you’re willing to learn; they’ll move candidates between roles where the aptitude and ownership are there.

The role is fully remote, with the US East Coast preferred. An early start is required - 7:00 AM ET, at least 3-4 days a week - to sync cross-functionally with the India team, though there’s flexibility around personal or the usual morning commitments after the handover. You must hold a green card or existing US work authorization, as no sponsorship is available.
