Job description

Auria is looking to hire a Cloud Architect to support a classified mission operations program for the U.S. Space Force. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and owning the AWS cloud architecture supporting a mission-critical classified environment, including authorization boundary documentation and cloud service configuration., * Design, implement, and maintain the AWS cloud architecture for a classified mission operations environment, including workload placement, network segmentation, and IL4/IL5 boundary definitions.

  • Own and lead the Interim Authority to Test (IATT) package: boundary documentation, data flow diagrams, cloud service configuration inventory, and technical artifacts required for authorization.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with AWS Professional Services, ensuring Auria retains architectural ownership and that external deliverables align with program requirements and ATO strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Network Architect to define the classified network stack and ensure cloud boundary documentation is consistent with authorization requirements.
  • Work with the Cybersecurity Lead to align cloud architecture with the RMF package - SSP, boundary assumptions, and control implementation - from the outset of the ATO process.
  • Establish and document cloud architecture standards, configuration baselines, and infrastructure-as-code patterns for use by the DevSecOps and Cloud Engineering teams.
  • Lead infrastructure provisioning automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent IaC tooling in a DoW classified cloud environment.
  • Provide technical direction to Cloud Engineers and serve as the escalation point for cloud architecture and AWS platform issues.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Government Top SECRET security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in cloud engineering or architecture roles, with demonstrated technical leadership on mission-critical classified systems.
  • Deep proficiency in AWS cloud services, including GovCloud environments; experience with IL4/IL5 classified workloads.
  • Experience developing and submitting IATT packages or equivalent authorization artifacts for DoW classified systems.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python; solid knowledge of networking fundamentals and cloud-native security practices.

WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:

  • Current U.S. Government Top SECRET clearance.
  • Experience supporting DoW, U.S. Space Force, or Space Systems Command programs in an AWS GovCloud environment.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture, RMF (DoDI 8510.01), and FedRAMP compliance in classified cloud environments.
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, Security Specialty, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent).
  • Experience with Keycloak or equivalent identity and access management in classified environments.
