Job description

Runpoint is an AI implementation firm. We have an active engagement with a venture-backed education company on a live pilot that puts cameras, microphones, and local AI into real physical spaces. The system watches a busy room and turns what it sees and hears into useful daily summaries for end users. You would own it end to end: the rig on the wall, the models that make sense of it, and the app people actually open.

What you’d do:

Stand up the hardware. IP cameras (RTSP) and directional mics into a local NVR on a server with an AI accelerator. Mount and move cameras, pull cable, sort out on-site networking and bandwidth, work with the facility’s IT person.

Own the edge layer. Tune detection, face recognition, and classification so the system reliably produces clean structured data. Decide what runs live versus batched overnight.

Build the app. Turn that structured data into a user-facing daily readout plus a staff review and coaching flow. Native app likely.

Run the experiment. We’ll try several cameras, mics, and approaches and learn what’s valuable as we go. You drive that and rebuild as needed.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Performing background checks?, A genuine full-stack builder who is equally happy on a ladder with a camera and in an editor wiring up an app. You self-host this kind of thing for fun, and you can also ship software people use.

Benefits & conditions

$15,000 - $20,000 a month - Contract, * Open-source NVR / local video pipelines (Frigate, Viseron, or similar); you know what a Coral TPU or an edge detector is

  • Edge computer vision: object detection, face recognition, classification, running locally on Coral / Intel iGPU / Nvidia / Hailo
  • Hands-on hardware and networking: IP cameras, PoE, switches, local servers, on-site config
  • App-building chops: full-stack, plus modern AI build tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor)
  • Comfort with audio: transcription, diarization

Logistics:

  • 3-month contract at $20k/month, with a real path to full-time if it’s working
  • On-site in the Dallas area, regularly
  • Background check required
  • Available to start within the week

If this is you, get in touch. We move fast.

Pay: $15,000.00 - $20,000.00 per month
