JOB SUMMARY AND SPECIFICATIONS JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for processing medical record requests in accordance with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA guidelines, and organizational policies. The HIM Tech # Release of Information ensures accurate and timely collection, review, and delivery of requested medical information regardless of media type. This role also manages incoming calls related to the patient portal, including assisting patients with access, account setup, and password resets while maintaining confidentiality and providing excellent customer service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Professional # Technical Skills Experience within a medical or clerical office setting preferred. Prior EMR experience required; Meditech experience preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical record release processes strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to manage high call volumes while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Education High school diploma or GED required. License(s) or Certification(s) RHIT, RHIA, preferred but not required. Other Skills or Requirements Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) preferred. Strong computer skills required. Ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
