We value creativity, ownership, and the drive to build meaningful technology that solves real-world security challenges. Every engineer has the opportunity to make a measurable impact on the product, the company, and our culture. We believe in using the right tools for each problem, mentoring and learning through peer reviews, and continuously improving how we build.

The Application Data Platform team designs, builds, and maintains data-intensive applications that power customer-facing features across REST APIs and UI components. Python is our primary language, and we take pride in delivering end-to-end solutions, from frontend and API design to backend systems and databases.

As a Software Engineer II on this team, you will help build and maintain customer-facing application features, APIs, backend services, and data workflows. You will work closely with product managers, designers, security researchers, data scientists, and other engineers to deliver reliable, maintainable software that helps simplify security for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product requirements into well-designed, maintainable software with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX, Security Research, Data Science, and other engineering teams to build customer-facing security features.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain application features across APIs, backend services, databases, and UI components.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to implementation plans within established architecture.
  • Write clear, tested, and documented code.
  • Participate actively in code reviews by giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Debug issues, improve reliability, and help monitor production services.
  • Work with relational and non-relational databases to support application data flows.
  • Engage actively in team discussions by contributing ideas, asking questions, and helping improve team practices.

Requirements

2+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • 1+ year of Python development experience, or strong experience with another backend language and interest in working with Python.
  • Experience building or maintaining REST APIs.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based application development using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with automated testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
  • Understanding of software design principles and maintainable application development.
  • Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Curious, self-motivated, and comfortable learning from feedback and code review.

Preferred

  • Experience with Python web or asynchronous frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, or Celery.
  • Familiarity with OpenAPI, Swagger, or REST API contract design.
  • Familiarity with containers or Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth, OIDC, IAM, or SAML.
  • Experience with backend-heavy full-stack development.
  • Familiarity with SQL query tuning or performance optimization.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.

  • Familiarity with LLM-assisted engineering tools such as Codex, Claude, OpenCode, or Cursor for workflows like code exploration, debugging, test generation, documentation, and implementation support.

  • Interest in analytical, OLAP, or Lakehouse databases such as Snowflake, Delta Lake, Iceberg, or BigLake.

Education

BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
