Job description

This role is being added to free up existing FTE capacity and accelerate delivery for the Giga z/OS Connect platform and service build, ensuring stability, scalability, and modernization of core mainframe services., * Design, develop, and support MACSS-based and mainframe applications in a complex enterprise environment

  • Support project work, production operations, and platform enhancements, reducing reliance on a single SME
  • Contribute to the build and expansion of IBM z/OS Connect services, enabling API and microservices integration with distributed platforms
  • Partner with platform, infrastructure, and application teams to modernize and expose mainframe services
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across batch and online processing
  • Participate in platform reliability, performance tuning, and operational readiness
  • Document systems, processes, and service integrations to reduce operational risk
  • Provide mentoring or informal leadership to junior engineers as needed

Requirements

Do you have experience in Systems & applications support?, We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer with strong experience in MACSS and IBM z/OS environments to support a mission-critical platform that is currently single-threaded across project delivery, operations, and platform modernization work., * 7+ years of mainframe development experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with MACSS (or closely related mainframe transaction/data systems)
  • Expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM
  • Experience supporting both application development and production operations
  • Familiarity with IBM z/OS Connect (services, APIs, REST enablement)
  • Experience working in high-availability, regulated, or mission-critical environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a single-threaded or high-ownership model

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Direct experience building or scaling z/OS Connect EE services
  • Exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives (API enablement, service wrappers, DevOps for zOS)
  • Experience integrating mainframe services with distributed or cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps practices for zOS
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, or large enterprise platforms
