Solution Architect (Remote - Contract)

The architect will serve as the primary technical authority across frontend, backend, and integration layers, ensuring the solution aligns with business goals, scalability requirements, and multi-region rollout strategy., * Design and own the overall technical architecture for the commercetools-based B2B e-commerce platform

• Define and enforce architectural patterns across microservices, event-driven integrations, and API layers
• Lead technical discovery sessions, solution workshops, and onsite meetings with client stakeholders
• Provide architectural guidance on frontend (Next.js / React) and backend (Node.js / TypeScript) implementation
• Drive headless CMS strategy using Drupal in combination with the commercetools platform
• Evaluate and recommend cloud infrastructure choices on AWS (primary) and Azure (secondary)
• Define CI/CD pipeline standards, Git-based workflows, and DevOps best practices
• Collaborate with Technical Leads and Senior Developers to validate implementation against architecture
• Ensure the solution supports SAP integration and international / multi-region deployments
• Produce architecture documentation, ADRs (Architecture Decision Records), and technical roadmaps
• Participate in code and design reviews while mentoring technical team members

Do you have experience in SAP S/4HANA?, Experience: 5+ years (commercetools & headless commerce) Employment Type: Contract (1 to 2 years, with possible extension) Location: Remote (Morocco or France time zone) Language: English mandatory (working language), * commercetools - deep platform expertise including data models, APIs, and product catalogue management

• Node.js and TypeScript - backend services and API development
• React and Next.js - modern frontend development and SSR / SSG patterns
• REST and GraphQL APIs - design, documentation, and governance
• Microservices architecture - service decomposition, contract design, and resilience patterns
• Event-driven integration - messaging patterns, event sourcing, and asynchronous workflows
• AWS - core services including Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, S3, RDS, and CloudFront
• CI/CD pipelines - GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent tools
• Git-based workflows - branching strategies, pull request culture, and code quality gates

Nice to Have

• Azure experience - strong advantage due to the client environment
• Drupal headless CMS - content modelling and API-first configuration
• commercetools Certification - strongly preferred
• SAP integration experience - SAP Commerce, S/4HANA, or middleware platforms such as MuleSoft
• Experience with international / multi-region platform rollouts
• B2B e-commerce domain knowledge including pricing, account management, and order workflows

Preferred Background & Certifications

A strong B2B e-commerce background is highly preferred. commercetools certification is considered a significant advantage.

Prior experience in international rollouts and SAP-integrated environments will be weighted positively during profile selection. Experience working on digital transformation programmes within retail, manufacturing, or distribution sectors is also a plus.
