Job description

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to support our busy Technical team within a food supplement manufacturing environment.

This role will involve checking production paperwork, reviewing CCP and quality records, preparing and testing samples, sending samples for external laboratory testing, organising test results, preparing Certificates of Analysis, supporting customer documentation requests, monitoring Technical consumables and carrying out routine factory GMP checks.

Responsibilities

  • Check completed production paperwork for accuracy, completeness and compliance with company procedures.
  • Identify and follow up on missing information, errors, inconsistencies, deviations, CCP issues or potential non-conformances.
  • File and maintain production records in line with document control and traceability requirements.
  • Prepare and organise samples for internal testing, customer requests and external laboratory testing.
  • Carry out routine internal testing, including pH, viscosity, organoleptic checks, water activity and other product quality checks as required.
  • Record test results accurately, maintain testing logs and escalate any unusual, unexpected or out of specification results.
  • Arrange sample dispatch, complete laboratory submissions and follow up to ensure results are received on time.
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis using approved test results, specifications and production information. Ensuring COAs are accurate, reviewed or approved where required, and sent to customers with supporting documentation.
  • Maintain copies of issued COAs, laboratory results and supporting records.
  • Create and update Product Bible entries for new and existing products, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Carry out routine factory walks and GMP checks
  • Monitor Technical, QA, factory and site consumables, and support with ordering, receiving and organising stock.
  • Support customer requests, supplier documents, audit preparation and general Technical administration.
  • Provide cover for Technical team duties during holidays, absence or busy periods.
  • Support the wider Technical team with other duties as required.

Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing, quality, technical, laboratory, production or technical administration role.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy when checking paperwork, records and test results.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Able to follow procedures and work in line with food safety, quality and site requirements.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and handles pressure.

Desirable

  • Degree in Food Technology or a related science subject.
  • Level 2 Food Safety or equivalent.
  • Basic HACCP or GMP training.

Benefits & conditions

  • Salary of £25,000-£27,500 depending on experience.
  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Please note that 6 days of annual leave must be reserved for the Christmas shutdown period, as the site closes for 2 weeks over Christmas.
  • Discretionary annual bonus of up to 10%, subject to company and individual performance.
  • Opportunity to develop within a Technical / Quality Assurance role in a food supplement manufacturing environment.
  • Training and development provided where required.

Pay: £25,000.00-£27,500.00 per year
