Job description

The Systems Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer systems. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all server hardware, software, and storage links. This role will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage servers, including e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Manage all system hardware and equipment, including servers, storage devices, backup devices, Operating Systems, etc.
  • Work with systems designers to create optimal system design and configurations.
  • Work with Application Analysts to field incoming problem tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
  • Document all pertinent end user identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and administer all instances where enhancements and issue resolution are required.
  • Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Conduct research on related products, services, protocols, and standards in support of system procurement and development efforts.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
  • Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of system component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Establish service level agreements with end users.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Perform server and security audits.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform system improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Provide liaison service with vendor representatives.
  • Assist with application analysts in development and implementation of application projects and new technology installations.
  • Practice asset management, including maintenance of related systems component inventory.
  • Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring system data.
  • Liaise with, and provide training and support to, help desk support staff on network issues.
  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executables.
  • Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Keeps abreast of pertinent federal, and state regulations and laws and Tift Regional Health System, Inc. (“TRHS”) policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to: TRHS’ compliance standards as they appear in TRHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy; and HIPAA and TRHS policies regarding privacy and security of protected health information.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform tasks that meet the age-specific requirements of the persons, patients, vendors, and staff that the employee is charged to interact with as required by the position.
  • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attends all mandatory education programs.
  • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Cross-trains in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in the department.
  • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manages resources effectively.
  • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment and removes malfunctioning equipment out of service with timely reporting to the appropriate personnel.
  • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Vendor relationship building?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * Associate’s Degree in Related Field, Four years equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of education. Microsoft certification preferred.
