Job description

The Senior ETL Developer is the primary owner of the organization’s data integration platform, responsible for the reliability and ongoing modernization of a portfolio of SSIS packages, SQL Agent jobs, and supporting scripts that process healthcare data daily. The role operates against an existing, prioritized backlog and involves approximately 60% maintenance and 40% improvement work. This is a sole-owner position, not part of a team rotation., * Maintain the existing SSIS package and SQL Agent job portfolio; monitor, alert, and respond to overnight failures.

  • Diagnose and resolve ETL failures end-to-end; document root cause and resolution for each incident.
  • Tune and refactor existing packages and stored procedures for performance and reliability.
  • Design and build new ETL workflows for new data feeds and file formats.
  • Maintain version control discipline across the portfolio: Git, pull requests, and a defined deployment process.
  • Write and maintain runbooks for every recurring job in the portfolio.
  • Coordinate with the DBA, application engineers, and operations team on changes that affect downstream systems.

Requirements

Do you have experience in XML?, * 5+ years building and supporting SSIS in production.

  • Strong T-SQL: stored procedures, query plans, indexing, and performance tuning on SQL Server or Azure SQL.
  • Working scripting fluency in C#, PowerShell, or Python.
  • SQL Server Agent: scheduling, job steps, alerts, and failure handling.
  • File-based integration patterns: flat files, CSV, fixed-width, XML, SFTP.
  • Source control with Git or equivalent., * Healthcare EDI (837, 835, 270/271) or other healthcare data experience.
  • Azure Data Factory and related Azure data services.
  • Experience modernizing legacy SSIS workloads onto cloud-native tooling.
  • Experience working in a SOC 2 or HITRUST environment.
