Job description
The Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation and security of the school’s computer network and associated systems to include monitoring traffic and protecting sensitive data and systems from intrusions.
Essential Duties Include: duties may change, and others may be assigned

Manage the daily operation of the school’s core network infrastructure, including Cisco firewalls and switches, Meraki wireless hardware, fiber and copper infrastructure, and dual internet connections.

Network Security: manage real-time network traffic and security monitoring tools to ensure the electronic/cyber and physical security of the computer network and overall network efficiency.

Data Security: monitor network data protection, encryption, and access control tools to prevent data loss and/or inappropriate access.

Endpoint Security: oversee cybersecurity initiatives and protections, including monitoring and remediation software on servers and endpoints to guarantee data and user security.

Maintain network hardware and software by regularly applying all recommended firmware and software patches.

Participate in regular professional development to stay up to date with the latest network and security best practices.

Conduct periodic network scans to find any vulnerabilities and report all network anomalies and events to the Director of Technology and the Director of Finance, Operations & Strategic Projects.

Plan for network hardware, infrastructure, and software upgrades.

Maintain the Incident Response Plan and related IT Policies and Procedures documents for the school and develop/update strategies to respond to and recover from a security breach.

Conduct awareness training of school employees on information security standards, policies and best practices.

Monitor and regularly test daily, weekly, and monthly onsite and offsite network data backups.

Resolve issues with school infrastructure, wireless network, physical and virtual servers, network printing and copying, VOIP telephone system, and security camera and door systems.

Carefully organize and document all work, and facilitate a comfortable working relationship between the IT and all other departments within the school.

Provide technology support to Faculty, Staff, and Students in the Network Center and in classrooms, and support technology for special events and groups as needed.

Other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Director of Technology or the Director of Finance, Operations & Strategic Projects.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Demonstrated technical proficiency with and knowledge of network hardware and software, operating systems, cybersecurity, and current trends and best practices.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply information in technical documentation, and to locate, organize, prioritize, analyze, interpret, and use data in decision making.

Effective oral and written communication skills, and organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with the technology team to solve problems creatively and plan and execute projects under pressure.

Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with a variety of audiences and deal with conflict or stressful situations calmly and patiently.

Ability to be flexible, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to challenges.

Able to work independently

Able to occasionally work evenings and during special events
Qualifications and Experience:
-
A bachelor’s degree in Network Management or Information Services, or other related field, is required

A minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Network Management is required

Advanced proficiency in cybersecurity risk, prevention, remediation, and user education on these topics is required

Relevant Cisco, CompTIA, and Microsoft Certifications
-
Experience with Cisco and Meraki hardware/software, XCP-ng virtual server environments, Microsoft servers and operating systems; Kaseya backup platform; SAN hardware; Microsoft Windows 11; Apple OSX; and Google Workspace for Education.

Benefits & conditions
Work Hours: The regular school office hours are Monday-Friday, from 8 am-4 pm, Salary: The expected salary range is $105-$118k. The actual compensation will be based on the candidates’ relevant and transferable years of service, and other factors, which include internal peer equity, the market and other organizational considerations. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
