Job description

BioSyntria Research Collective is hiring a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure supporting our research, analytics, and scientific data initiatives. This role partners closely with our research scientists, data analysts, and bioinformatics teams to ensure research data is clean, reliable, and accessible across the organization., * Build and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Apache Airflow

  • Design and optimize data warehouses and data lakes to support research datasets
  • Develop scalable data models for scientific, clinical, or experimental data (as applicable)
  • Ensure data quality, validation, and governance across pipelines
  • Collaborate with Research Scientists, Bioinformaticians, and Software Engineers
  • Monitor pipeline performance and resolve data infrastructure issues
  • Automate data workflows to improve research efficiency and reduce manual processing
  • Document data architecture, processes, and standards in line with research compliance needs

Requirements

Do you have experience in Schema design?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python (or Java/Scala)
  • Experience with ETL tools: Apache Airflow, dbt, Apache Spark
  • Experience with cloud data platforms: AWS Redshift, AWS S3, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse, or Snowflake
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and relational/NoSQL databases
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with streaming platforms: Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
  • Experience handling research, clinical, or scientific datasets
  • Familiarity with data compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, GxP, or SOC 2 depending on research scope)

Education Requirement Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
