Senior Fullstack Developer

• This role supports the Mechanical/Hub and Terminal teams, focused on modernizing major legacy systems that support freight operations, rolling stock maintenance, detector systems, hub movement, terminal activity, and container flow from origin to destination.
• The modernization scope is large and includes multiple MQs, legacy microservices, IoT data ingestion, high-volume detector/sensor data, and 600+ rulesets that need to be replatformed.
• The environment processes 30M+ data points from detectors, so candidates need to be comfortable working in high-volume distributed systems.
• The client is looking for engineers who can support both new development and existing system modernization.
• This person should be able to work independently, mentor junior developers, communicate clearly, and lead full-stack work from design through deployment.

Must-Have Skills:

• 6 - 10 years of full stack development experience, backend-heavy.
• Deep Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Kafka and event-driven architecture experience.
• PostgreSQL or strong relational database experience.
• Cloud experience, preferably AWS, but Azure is acceptable.
• Python experience for backend or data workflows.
• Experience modernizing legacy microservices and distributed systems.
• DevSecOps mindset, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure coding.
• Experience supporting both new builds and existing systems.
• Experience with IoT, high-volume data pipelines, sensors, or detector systems.
• Ability to mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership.
• Ability to lead full-stack projects from design through deployment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• React or Angular experience.
• React Native experience for the mobile-focused opening.
• AI-assisted development experience with Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT, OpenAI, or similar tools.
• Spark, Elasticsearch, or similar distributed data tools.
• Rules engine experience.
• Enterprise modernization experience.
