Job description

Four Rivers Charter Public School is seeking an experienced and mission-aligned Director of Technology & Technology Education. Affiliated with EL Education, Four Rivers is a college preparatory public charter school serving 220 students in grades 7-12 in Greenfield, Massachusetts.

The Director of Technology & Technology Education is responsible for leading the school’s technology systems, infrastructure, and educational technology program. This administrator-teacher hybrid role combines strategic technology leadership, instructional technology support, and direct student instruction.

The Director ensures that technology systems effectively support teaching, learning, communication, operations, and data security while helping students and staff become thoughtful, capable users of technology in service of learning and community. The successful candidate is a collaborative educator, skilled systems manager, and proactive problem solver who can balance long-term planning with the daily needs of a dynamic school community., * Lead the planning, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the school’s technology infrastructure and systems.

  • Oversee network operations, wireless systems, cloud-based services, device management, cybersecurity practices, data security, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Manage Google Workspace administration, user access, organizational structures, and technology-related operational systems.
  • Coordinate technology purchasing, inventory management, licensing, replacement cycles, and long-range technology planning.
  • Develop and maintain technology procedures, documentation, and standard operating practices.
  • Monitor system performance, prioritize technology needs, and respond effectively to operational challenges.
  • Lead the school’s approach to digital citizenship, data privacy, cybersecurity awareness, and the responsible use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and contracted service providers as appropriate.

Educational Technology Leadership

  • Support faculty in the effective and mission-aligned integration of technology into teaching and learning.
  • Provide coaching, troubleshooting, and professional development related to educational technology tools and practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify technology solutions that enhance student learning, expeditionary experiences, and project-based work.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations aligned with instructional and operational priorities.

Technology Education

Approximately 0.25 FTE of this position is dedicated to direct instruction.

  • Develop vertically aligned curriculum maps and teach technology classes approximately two partial days per week during student Tribs periods.
  • Develop students’ digital literacy, research, communication, productivity, and technology problem-solving skills.
  • Support students in the effective use of technology for expeditions, projects, presentations, and other academic work.
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure students build technology skills that support success across disciplines.
  • Periodically supervise and mentor student technology interns or technology team members based on school needs and in collaboration with other school leaders.

Assessment and User Support

  • Support technology systems required for state and local assessments, including MCAS and school-based benchmark assessments.
  • Troubleshoot technology-related issues during testing windows and other critical school operations.
  • Provide responsive support to students, faculty, and staff regarding technology systems and tools.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for students and employees related to technology access and systems.

Administrative Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the Farmhouse (Administrative) Team.
  • Participate at least one time per month in Farmhouse meetings and regular one-on-one supervisory meetings with the Head of School and Principal.
  • Contribute to school improvement planning, budgeting, and administrative decision-making.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to align technology systems with educational, operational, and strategic priorities.
  • Assist in evaluating technology-related risks, opportunities, and future needs of the school.

Member of the Administrative Team

As a member of the Farmhouse Team, the Director of Technology & Technology Education contributes to the broader life and leadership of the school.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate fully in the life of the school, including selected Celebrations of Learning, admissions and recruitment events, school traditions, and other key community activities.
  • Support student experiences beyond the classroom, including clubs, intensives, and other special programs as needed.
  • Share in administrative duties and student supervision responsibilities. Assignments are determined collaboratively among the administrative team and are designed to balance school needs, role responsibilities, and work-life sustainability.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to respond to emerging school and community needs and contribute to a professional culture grounded in reflection, continuous improvement, and the belief that we are crew, not passengers.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Task prioritization?, * Experience managing technology systems, networks (including Microsoft Server), cloud-based platforms , and educational technology in a school or comparable environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop lessons, teach, and work effectively with middle and high school students.
  • Strong knowledge of educational technology tools, technology integration practices, and technology infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting Google Workspace administration, device management systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and respond effectively to urgent operational needs.
  • Evidence of interest in and understanding of the mission and program of Four Rivers Charter Public School.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and creating accessible learning environments for all students.
  • The energy, flexibility, and sense of adventure required to work hard as a member of a dynamic faculty and administrative team.
