Job description
We are seeking a high-impact Staff Software Engineer to serve as a technical visionary and force multiplier across our R&D organization. While you will be a foundational member of a team, your influence extends beyond a single product area - you are a process architect who ensures our implementations are robust, elegant, and scalable for the long term. In this role, you will lead through high-level design and deep hands-on execution, with roughly 70% of your time spent building core abstractions and 30% shaping the broader architectural roadmap through peer partnership and mentorship. Because we build for high-scale performance, expert-level mastery of C# and the .NET stack is the bedrock of how you will raise the talent bar at ServiceTitan.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Architectural Vision: Serve as the go-to technical authority not just for a squad, but for complex cross-functional domains, ensuring our systems remain scalable and a point of pride for the entire organization.
- Lead through Execution: Drive the delivery of high-complexity systems and foundational abstractions, taking projects from initial architectural sketch to successful production launch.
- Architect for Global Scale: Design and implement cloud-native patterns (Docker/Kubernetes) and distributed systems that handle the massive throughput of a public-stage SaaS platform.
- Nurture the Ecosystem: Proactively identify systemic technical debt and lead initiatives to improve our shared engineering engine with a long-term, business-owner mindset.
- Elevate the Bar: Maintain our high standards for clean code and performance. You will be a key contributor to our engineering best practices and play a vital role in expanding our interview bench and mentoring senior talent.
- Collaborate as a Strategic Partner: Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to explore “the art of the possible,” translating executive-level goals into technical reality.
Requirements
Do you have experience in System design for system development?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Deep Roots: 12+ years of professional engineering experience, with a proven track record of building the critical APIs and infrastructure that enable other engineers to succeed.
- C# / .NET Mastery: Expert-level, current “under the hood” knowledge of the Microsoft .NET technology stack (C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Web APIs).
- Architectural Stewardship: Extensive hands-on experience with distributed systems and design patterns (Saga, CQRS, Event Sourcing) that ensure system resiliency at scale.
- A Data-First Mindset: You use performance profiling and data analysis to drive architectural decisions and prove the impact of your technical recommendations.
- Modern Tooling: High proficiency with Git, SQL Server, and advanced debugging/profiling tools to optimize high-traffic environments.
- A Collaborative Spirit: A proactive, “no-ego” approach to problem-solving. You are a translator who can move between deep technical details and high-level business strategy.
- Education: B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
AI Skills & Tooling
We are leaning into the future of AI-assisted development and love to work with engineers who do the same:
- AI as a Teammate: Hands-on experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and streamline debugging workflows.
- Engineering Judgment: Ability to critically evaluate and integrate AI-generated output, applying sound engineering judgment to ensure correctness, security, and maintainability.
- AI Integration: Experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) or AI services into production applications.
- A Growth Mindset: Eagerness to stay current with the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and champion best practices for AI-assisted development within the team.
