Job description
We are seeking a Software Development Manager for the Corporate Payments Engineering organization. This role combines deep technical leadership with people management and strategic ownership. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader who will help develop, drive, and execute implementation for the next generation of Corporate Payments products, including user interfaces, APIs, webhooks, and data streams. This position involves approximately 70% coding or assisting with code and 30% people management., * Develop, drive, and execute a long-term vision and strategy for Corporate Payments cross-cutting and core services.
- Define and implement a comprehensive architectural roadmap aligned with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Lead and manage a team of developers, providing coaching, development, and performance feedback.
- Oversee two-week sprints, including daily stand-ups, work item refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with product and commercial partners to meet customer needs.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Ensure the team adheres to the āintegrated engineerā model, where engineers can code, test, and understand infrastructure.
- Partner with other engineering teams to reuse patterns, components, and development practices.
Requirements
Experience: 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in an engineering management role.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Java or Kotlin.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Strong experience building high-quality automated tests, including unit, component, and integration testing.
- Solid understanding of security and compliance requirements in cloud and data environments.
Soft Skills:
- Proven leadership, team-building, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- A collaborative mindset and a sense of extreme ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with transaction processing, particularly complex processes and formats.
- Experience building financial or payments-related applications (e.g., credit card products, accounts receivable/payable).
- Experience architecting solutions.
- Familiarity with fuel business or corporate payments.
- Knowledge of PCI Compliance.
- Experience with spec-driven development.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
