Overview Become part of the AI Lab at Drees & Sommer Digital Services and help shape the next generation of intelligent solutions for the construction and real estate industry. In our lab, we develop AI applications that create real added value both internally and externally - from document analysis and process automation to agent-based systems. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be responsible for the entire life cycle: from requirements analysis with stakeholders to architecture and development to deployment and operation. You will work independently with internal departments and external customers, including local authorities, state governments, and private-sector clients. Responsibilities Documentation, knowledge transfer and support in using and scaling successful AI-solutions Independent design, development, and commissioning of AI solutions - end-to-end from prototype to productive use Development and integration of AI system components: RAG pipelines, agents, tools, skills, and MCP connections Development and maintenance of the associated front-end and back-end components as well as operation of the solutions (Cloud and On-Premise) Independent project management with internal and external stakeholders, including public clients (cities, states) Close collaboration with the AI Lab Lead on the further development of the AI platform and solution architecture Evaluation of new models, frameworks, and technologies for use in the construction and real estate domain Qualifications Degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or a comparable field Proven professional experience in software engineering with a focus on cloud, backend, and frontend (e.g., Python, TypeScript, React, FastAPI, Docker, CI/CD) At least one year of intensive, challenging practical experience in AI engineering - e.g., building RAG systems, agent architectures, LLM integration, context engineering, or fine-tuning System understanding of how components work together in AI applications (retrieval, orchestration, tool use, evaluation) Experience in independent communication with technical stakeholders and in project management Good English skills (at least C1) for working with technical documentation and international resources Additional Information To ensure your work-life balance, we offer the option of mobile working We promote your professional and personal development through individually tailored student mentoring We support your health with our versatile wellbeing media library, which contains content on exercise, nutrition, and physical and mental health Make valuable contacts within Drees & Sommer and expand your professional network Modern workplace and equipment.
