Staff Software Engineer AI (US Remote)

This is a permanent/full-time position directly with our client. This is a highly autonomous Staff level individual contributor role focused on technical leadership, architectural ownership, and engineering velocity. You will lead complex technical initiatives across distributed systems while remaining deeply hands on in development. The role combines system design, cross team influence, mentorship, and execution within a fast moving product engineering environment.

You will partner closely with product and engineering leadership to shape technical direction, evaluate tradeoffs, and drive scalable solutions across a modern distributed architecture. Beyond shipping software, this role is expected to elevate engineering quality, improve team effectiveness, and help establish best practices around AI powered and agentic development workflows.

Do you have experience in Tooling?, * 8+ Years of Software Engineering Experience with Staff level or equivalent technical leadership responsibilities.

• Strong Production Experience in TypeScript, Elixir, or Python within distributed systems environments.
• Architectural Ownership Experience leading complex, multi quarter technical initiatives from design through production delivery.
• Hands On Engineering Leadership with the ability to stay deeply involved in implementation while guiding broader technical direction.
• Agentic Coding Workflow Adoption using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar as a primary daily development workflow.
• Distributed Systems Expertise including scalability, reliability, observability, and service oriented architecture design.
• Cross Functional Communication Skills capable of presenting technical strategy, tradeoffs, and sequencing clearly to engineering and product stakeholders.
• Force Multiplier Mindset focused on improving team output, engineering standards, and long term organizational velocity.

Nice to Have

• Experience within logistics, supply chain, eCommerce, or operationally complex B2B platforms.
• Event Driven Architecture Expertise using technologies such as Kafka, Redpanda, or streaming based systems.
• Technical Mentorship and Engineering Standards Leadership across multiple teams or organizations.
• Startup or High Growth Environment Experience with rapid iteration and high ownership expectations.
• Open Source Contributions or Technical Writing demonstrating engineering depth and thought leadership.
• Experience Building Shared Tooling, Frameworks, or Internal Platforms adopted beyond a single team.
• Strong Perspective on AI Assisted Engineering and the long term architectural implications of agentic development practices.
