Job description
This position exists to ensure the security, availability, and performance of the Department of Justice’s network infrastructure, including cloud-based systems hosted in Microsoft Azure and on-premises network equipment. How does it get done?
Administering and monitoring the agency’s network infrastructure; managing network security policies, firewall rules, and access controls; overseeing Azure cloud networking including virtual networks, security groups, and connectivity; administering local infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory across 7 domain controllers spanning 3 physical sites; identifying and responding to network security threats and vulnerabilities; maintaining documentation of network configurations; and collaborating with IT staff to support agency-wide technology needs. This position serves the employees and leadership of the New Mexico Department of Justice, as well as the state agencies and members of the public who depend on the Department’s technology systems being secure and operational.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and three (3) years of experience in network administration and design. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements
Candidate must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico; or must obtain a Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions
Work is performed in a hybrid environment combining remote work and in-office presence, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Position may require travel between agency physical sites. Supplemental Information
