Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Data Architect to lead enterprise data strategy, architecture, and migration efforts supporting a large-scale ERP transformation. This role is responsible for guiding the transition from a Legacy on-prem ERP platform to a modern SaaS-based ERP solution, ensuring data integrity, governance, scalability, and successful system integration across the enterprise., The Data Architect will operate at the intersection of business and technology, defining future-state data architecture while leading complex data conversion, migration, and integration initiatives across multiple institutional domains., * Define and own enterprise data architecture aligned with SaaS ERP capabilities

  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models across core domains (student, finance, HR, advancement)
  • Establish enterprise data standards, naming conventions, and architecture principles

Data Migration & Conversion

  • Lead end-to-end ERP data migration strategy from Legacy systems to SaaS ERP
  • Oversee data profiling, cleansing, mapping, transformation rules, and enrichment
  • Plan and execute migration waves and cutover strategies
  • Ensure validation, reconciliation, and audit readiness for migrated data

Data Governance & Quality

  • Establish and mature data governance framework (ownership, stewardship, controls)
  • Define and monitor data quality KPIs and remediation processes
  • Partner with business stakeholders to align data definitions and business rules
  • Design integration patterns between ERP and enterprise systems (CRM, LMS, reporting, IAM, etc.)
  • Define API, middleware, and event-driven integration strategies
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and security across the integration ecosystem

Analytics & Reporting Enablement

  • Design data structures to support reporting, analytics, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with BI teams to enable modern reporting and data access strategies

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture or enterprise data engineering roles
  • Proven experience leading full-cycle ERP data migrations (end-to-end ownership)
  • API design and integration

Nice to Have

  • Experience in higher education environments
  • Experience with Ellucian ecosystem, including Banner and/or Colleague, * 7-12+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data roles
  • Strong experience with ERP environments and large-scale transformation programs
  • Deep expertise in:
  • Data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical)
  • ETL/ELT pipelines and tooling
  • Data governance frameworks
  • SQL, data warehousing, and cloud data platforms
  • Strong integration experience with APIs, middleware, and event-based architectures
