Job description

This is a new role, ideally based at our Manchester office. It will also require a regular presence in our Head Office in Burnley - typically one day a week - so the successful applicant will need a full driving licence. Candidates must live within commuting distance of Greater Manchester.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, prototype, and test IoT devices (sensors, controllers, edge nodes).
  • Develop schematics and PCB layouts using CAD tools.
  • Select components focusing on low power, RF performance, and cost optimisation.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams for smooth product integration.
  • Carry out EMI/EMC, environmental, and compliance testing (CE, FCC, UL).
  • Apply DFM/DFT principles to ensure scalable, manufacturable designs.
  • Analyse and troubleshoot product performance using lab and field diagnostics.
  • Maintain clear, detailed documentation throughout the design cycle..

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Internet of Things?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * 3+ years’ experience in hardware design for embedded or IoT systems.

  • Strong skills in circuit design, analog/digital electronics, and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, Nordic, etc.) and power management.
  • Understanding of IoT system constraints (power, latency, range).
  • Experience with wireless technologies (LoRa, BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, NB-IoT, LTE-M).
  • Hands-on use of lab diagnostic equipment.
  • Exposure to secure hardware design (TPM, secure boot, encryption ICs).
  • Knowledge of industrial design considerations (IP ratings, thermal management).
  • Proven experience bringing products from prototype to production..

We’re very much at design and testing stage hence the need to bring on technical talent to help us build this next chapter.

This role will face into both Netbeam and Total Care and Support.
