Job description
This position is responsible for supporting the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems. This role manages system infrastructure and related processes, including daily operations, monitoring, and issue resolution across client/server, storage, network, and mobile environments. The role provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 support by diagnosing and resolving technical issues and communicating updates to management and users. Additional duties include supporting dispatch systems and hardware, configuring and maintaining UNIX and Windows operating systems, installing system software, and updating network components to enhance reliability and performance.
What You’ll Do:
- Support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.
- Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
- Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
- Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
- Support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
- Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and install/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 10 years of experience as a System Administrator OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years’ experience with the following:
- Design, plan, installation, configuration, and sustainment of a Red Hat Linux (RHEL) environment.
- Creation of automation scripts for configuration, backup, and restoration using well known scripting languages (Bash/Perl)
- Performing Puppet system administration
- Installing software from YUM repositories, RPM Files, tar-balls, or source code
- Researching, acquiring, and applying IAVA patches
- Unix/Linux command line
- VMWare architecture, Installation and configuration. Experience with facilitating failover with VMotion, VMWare template library, and VMWare monitoring capability
- Salt to manage complex IT environments across multiple operating systems
- 3 years’ experience in implementing OS level clustering.
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI w/FS Poly
Benefits & conditions
US Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000 The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
