Job description
As a GIS Application Developer (Information Systems Specialist 6) in Salem, Oregon, you will provide support for the agency’s information systems by developing and improving GIS-based applications. This position will design and build tools that help with business operations, resource management, and public service. This position will also maintain the agency’s spatial databases and create applications that display geographic data on the web or mobile devices. The role works closely with technical teams, the GIS Coordinator, and outside partners to ensure applications meet the agency’s needs.

Requirements
To be considered for this position, all applicants must meet one of the following options:
- Option 1: Five (5) years of information systems experience in full stack development including: database administration/application development/production task development
- Option 2: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience in full stack development including: database administration/application development/production task development
- Option 3: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in full stack development including: database administration/application development/production task development
Desired Attributes
- Advanced knowledge of GIS, spatial databases, application development, cartography, GPS/mobile tools, and natural-resource spatial analysis
- Expert experience with ESRI technologies: ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise
- Expert skills in JavaScript, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, and Python
- Strong SQL skills and experience with SSMS
- Experience developing applications in C# and Microsoft Visual Studio
- Experience creating REST/JSON services
- Experience managing geospatial databases, converting digital data, and completing FGDC metadata
- Excellent writing and communication skills

- The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%
