Andreas Kaldun

Optics designer pushing the limits of EUV lithography and semiconductor software at Carl Zeiss SMT.

Andreas Kaldun builds optical systems using extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light. He leads the architecture department for optics design, mechatronics, and software at Carl Zeiss SMT, focusing on DUV and EUV lithography.

Before joining Zeiss, Andreas researched at the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Stanford, and SLAC.

He explores the relationship between hardware and software in chip manufacturing. His recent work focuses on how efficient software design can drive die shrinks and help the semiconductor industry reach net-zero emissions by the 2030s.
