Daniele Tonella drives technology strategy as the CTO of ING. He focuses on modernizing global banking infrastructure and navigating the complexities of AI, autonomous agents, and digital trust within the financial stack.
Before joining ING, he ran large-scale systems as Group CIO at UniCredit and held leadership roles at AXA Group. A self-described “mechanical engineer by mistake,” Daniele started coding at age 10 but studied industrial engineering at ETH Zürich before finding his way back to software.
