John Romero designs games, levels, and code. Across his career, he has shipped over a hundred commercial titles and co-founded eight companies, including id Software. He currently co-owns Romero Games.
A self-taught developer inspired by early Apple II programs, John stays focused on the raw mechanics of play. He speaks frequently about the boundaries of artificial intelligence in tech, arguing that while algorithms can build dynamic environments, they cannot replace human design intuition.
When he isn’t building new titles, he still jumps into live DOOM II deathmatches.
