Job description
- Research into key areas of audiovisual translation and multimodal communication in an increasingly digital environment
- Participation in interdisciplinary research projects within the Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility, as well as other research units at the University of Hildesheim and beyond
- Teaching in the degree programmes of the faculty, primarily in the Master's degree programme in Media Text and Media Translation and the Bachelor's degree programme in International Communication and Translation
- Collaboration in academic self-administration, including the continuous development of teaching formats and study curricula
- Cooperation with public and private broadcasters and other players in the translation industry, * Research in areas of Information Science (with a focus on AI) including but not limited to:
- Analysis of Information Behavior and design of Human-Machine Interaction
- Information Access (e.g. Web Information Retrieval, Search Systems)
- Information Infrastructure and Information Markets
- Evaluation Research
- Information Quality
- LLMs in Information Science
- AI and Information Literacy
- Participation in interdisciplinary research projects within the Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility, as well as other research units at the University of Hildesheim and beyond (e.g. teacher education)
- Teaching in the degree programmes of the faculty, primarily in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes International Information Management
- Collaboration in academic self-administration, including the continuous development of teaching formats and study curricula, * Research in areas of Natural Language Processing and design of information systems (with regard to Information Science) including but not limited to:
- Natural Language Processing with user-oriented approaches
- Applications of NLP for Digital Social Sciences and Digital Humanities
- Evaluation of Large Language Models (e.g. bias)
- Multimodal and multilingual models
- Consideration and analysis of Cultural Heterogeneity
- Participation in interdisciplinary research projects within the Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility, as well as other research units at the University of Hildesheim and beyond (e.g. teacher education)
- Teaching in the degree programmes of the faculty, primarily in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes International Information Management
- Collaboration in academic self-administration, including the continuous development of teaching formats and study curricula
Requirements
Do you have experience in Research?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * University degree in the relevant subject area
- Pedagogical and didactical proficiency confirmed by practical experience
- Exceptional qualifications for in-depth independent academic work, which is usually demonstrated by an above-average doctorate
- Additional academic achievements, which have generally been achieved in the context of a junior professorship or a habilitation, otherwise also in the context of work as a research assistant at a university or a non-university research institution or in the context of other academic work in Germany or abroad
- Research activities in at least two of the following fields: multimodality, Information Literacy, audiovisual knowledge communication and/or translation technologies
- Research in or profound experience with the latest technological developments and AI supported tools in the related research fields (see above)
- Willingness to contribute to the research profile of the University of Hildesheim, particularly in the areas of 'AI in Everyday Life' and 'Education and Social Engagement', as well as their overlapping areas (especially information literacy and social inclusion)
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding
- Multilingual perspective: Research into and profound knowledge of at least one of the institute's working languages (English, French, Spanish).
- Proficiency in the German language (at B1 level required after 3 years, C1 after 6 years of employment)

- Willingness to contribute to the research profile of the University of Hildesheim, particularly in the areas of 'AI in Everyday Life' and 'Education and Social Engagement', as well as their overlapping areas (especially information literacy and social inclusion)
