The Zipline Platform Team builds and maintains the foundation that keeps our platform reliable, secure, and scalable. Ultimately, we enable Zipline to innovate quickly and safely, ensuring our platform can scale to meet the needs of every customer., As an Intermediate Rails Engineer, you will play a key role in scaling and improving Zipline's cloud infrastructure, CI/CD systems, and developer experience. You will help design automation solutions, manage containerized environments, and build tools that enable engineering teams to deliver software efficiently and reliably. This role blends hands-on cloud operations with infrastructure development.
What you will do:
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure scalable, reliable, and faster deployments.
- Collaborate with developers primarily Ruby on Rails to embed DevOps best practices into the development lifecycle.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to manage cloud resources.
- Manage and scale containerized infrastructure on Kubernetes.
- Support and evolve cloud environments on AWS (experience with GCP or Azure a plus).
- Enhance system observability through improved monitoring, alerting, and telemetry.
- Optimize database performance and scalability across PostgreSQL.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide support for critical production issues.
- Partner with teams across engineering to improve platform quality, reliability, and developer experience.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Relevant production experience with large scale rails applications
- Proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (like Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Ruby preferred; Typescript/ JavaScript a plus).
- Strong understanding of observability tools (such as Datadog and Sentry) and practices.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- No problem managing your time as a remote employee.
- Proud of your craft, valuing clean code that scales to keep large teams productive.
