Job description
As a Hardware Engineer, you receive a defined part of the camera subsystem to design (hardware electronics) based on the Sub System Specification provided by the Camera Architect. You create a detailed schedule and specifications for your assigned part and discuss these with the Architect to ensure alignment. Throughout development, you push technical boundaries as needed to meet quality, functionality, reliability, and specification standards. You regularly consult with the Architect on your progress and when necessary, with other developers about the relationship between the various parts to be designed to ensure proper integration of components. You actively work within the team to resolve any delays, and if issues cannot be solved internally, you escalate them through the Architect to the Project Manager.
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
- Perform the design and redesign of complex PCBAs, including component selection, schematic capture, simulation (Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, and functional analysis), prototyping, and debugging.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle, such as specifications, verification plans, and test reports.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in R&D, manufacturing, and customer support to resolve issues and resolve hardware and system-level problems.
- Interact with PCBA manufacturers and assembly partners to guarantee design-for-manufacturing compliance and smooth production transitions.
- Perform root cause analysis and debugging of complex hardware-software interactions during development and operational phases.
- Own subsystem development by delivering innovative, cost-effective, and maintainable hardware solutions aligned with project goals.
- Serve as a technical point of contact and knowledge resource, providing guidance and expertise to engineering colleagues.
- Contribute to architectural and system-level decisions, balancing technical feasibility with project timelines and budget constraints.
- Working closely with fellow designers, making critical decisions within budget and time constraints, and may oversee interns.
Requirements
Do you have experience in MATLAB?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO/TU level) in electronic engineering.
- Up to 5 years of experience, ideally including relevant internships, graduation projects, or professional roles in high-end digital products
- Knowledge of high-speed/analog electronics, PCB/PCBA manufacturing, and hardware testing/debugging procedures.
- Familiarity with design and testing methodologies (FMEA, simulations, peer reviews, root cause analysis).
- Ability to plan hardware development, interpret customer requirements, and carry out design-level testing with preventive measures.
- Understanding client needs and being capable of developing a high-level design planning.
- Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, coordinate development activities, and clearly convey technical information to stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English and Dutch.
- Valuable additional skills include experience using Cadence and Mentor Graphics for hardware design and simulation. Working knowledge of MATLAB for analysis and simulation is also considered a strong asset.
- Valuable additional skills include VHDL component integration in complex systems.
