Job description

For the Vienna office, we are looking for a Project Engineer (m/f/d) - Digital Transformation. Drive the implementation of cutting-edge technologies across biopharmaceutical operations. The Project Engineer supports the planning, execution, and delivery of digital transformation initiatives within biopharmaceutical operations. This role bridges engineering, IT, and business functions to implement innovative technologies that enhance productivity, compliance, and data integrity across R&D, manufacturing and quality.

Your role in our team

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Lead or support the implementation of digital solutions PAS-X Savvy in GMP and non-GMP-regulated environments
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, IT, quality, and operations
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including project plan, timeline, and risk assessments
  • Project management of PAS-X Savvy Engineering projects

Technical Implementation

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and engineering solutions
  • Support system integration, parametrization, configuration, and testing of digital tools
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to ensure seamless integration of new technologies
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards and internal engineering practices
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to ensure user-centric transformation

Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify opportunities to optimize existing systems and processes through digital technologies
  • Support data analytics initiatives to improve operational performance and decision-making
  • Provide technical training and support to end users
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure successful adoption of new technologies, * Flexible working hours

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related filed
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in digital technologies or project management are a plus
  • Experience with digital systems such as MES, LIMS, SCADA, PLCs, or data analytics platforms is a plus
  • Biotech domain knowledge preferred (chemical engineering also favored) with a strong understanding of biopharma processes (clinical development, manufacturing)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Technical proficiency in automation, system integration, and digital platforms
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Knowledge and experience with Python and SQL or willing to learn
  • Proficient Business English
  • Team-oriented disposition / comfortable working with an interdisciplinary team (Biotechnologists, Computer Scientists, Statisticians)
  • Highly autonomous and results oriented in tight timelines
  • Data Science or Bioprocess engineering ambition and would like apply newly developed tools and approaches to the field of biotechnology

Optional knowledge favored

  • Familiar with Linux, Docker or Databricks
  • Cloud instance set up and configuration
  • Curious about technologies such as AI/ML, cloud computing, data analytics, and automation
  • Knowledge of validation and qualification processes in regulated environments
  • Familiarity with GMP and regulatory compliance in pharmaceutical manufacturing
