Senior backend software engineer (typescript/node.js)

You enjoy working in teams and value good communication, and you have experience in coaching and guiding development teams in the correct application of DevOps principles. Thanks to your experience, you know how to make decisions with confidence and, by using different written and spoken communication styles, you know how to bring the team and the customer along with you. You feel comfortable working in a team and collaborating closely. You can proactively see what needs to get done, and have a passion for getting things done! When you see options for improvements, you know how to argue why and you implement them.

The teams at Lab Digital consist of developers, (UX) designers, QA specialists, business analysts, solution architects, scrum masters and project managers. Working as part of this multidisciplinairy team and in close cooperation with our clients, you contribute to the success of both the team and client with your skills and experience and a friendly positive approach.

What You Do

As a Backend Software Engineer (Typescript/Node.js) you work with your team to realise technical solutions that fit the demand. You bring substantial features independently from concept to production. This means that you are responsible for, among other things:

• Realising technical integrations with external systems (for example headless CMS and e-commerce platforms, payment providers, etc) that are robust, scalable and fault-tolerant.
• Translating requirements into a technical architecture, documentation, and final implementation.
• Creating well-documented, high-performance rest APIs and GraphQL endpoints.
• Supporting teammates in their work and provide feedback in a well-structured manner.
• Helping define and improve our internal standards regarding code style, maintainability and scalability, among others.
• Working with clients to train and support in-house development teams and stakeholders in working with the software products we develop.

• Trackrecord of developing NodeJS based server-side JavaScript/TypeScript applications with frameworks like Express or Apollo.
• Experience running NodeJS applications on containerised (Docker/Kubernetes) and/or serverless (Lambda) functions.
• Experience with event driven software architecture and messaging queues such as SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ
• Knowledge of AWS/Azure and infrastructure as code principles (Terraform)
