Platform Engineer

All about the role

As a Platform Engineer, you will join the Global Base Platform Infrastructure (GBPI) team. The Global Base Platform Infrastructure team is responsible for setting up and managing all base infrastructure in our cloud environment (we mainly use Amazon AWS). An important part of this is designing and maintaining high performing and secure infrastructures, all whilst ensuring that appropriate guardrails are in place. These infrastructures are for example requested by development teams who have specific requirements for their applications.

Managing accounts and access to these accounts in which these infrastructures reside is also a vital part of the role, to ensure consistency across the organization. Along with that, you'll also be responsible for maintaining the entire platform network stack which is divided over multiple regions, including DNS and our CDN. All of this is of course managed through infrastructure as code.

Please note: This role begins as a 12-month contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent position upon completion of the initial term.

What will you bring to the table?

• Strong knowledge of AWS services (i.e EC2, S3, RDS)
• Working experience with Terraform
• Experience with configuration management tooling (Ansible / Puppet)
• Skilled in cloud networking (AWS VPC, AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Network firewall)
• Experience with managing complex DNS setups (Route53, Cloudflare)
• Experience with Linux (we use Debian and Ubuntu)
• Experience with Identity and Access Management (AWS IAM / AWS IAM Identity Center)
• Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (Zabbix / Datadog / Cloudwatch)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal English
• A strong will to automate

Nice to have:

• Experience with working in scrum sprints (agile methodology)
• Knowledge of microservice environments
