Job description

Introduction Our client is looking for a number of Java Software Engineers to work in the National Security space developing mission critical software and applications. You will be working on key projects and programmes at the forefront of the cyber domain. You will need experience developing Java within a security cleared environment to be considered for this role. Working Patterns: This role is based predominantly on site in Gloucester. There are available options for every Friday/every other Friday off dependant on project requirements. Key responsibilities Developing cutting edge DevSecOps software systems and applications within the National Security environment. Planning, conducting and coordinating software development activities. Design and development of tests to debug software. Working with customer requirements that are to be programmed into business/mission applications, whilst utilising the appropriates standards, processes and tools throughout the entire development

Requirements

lifecycle. Correction of program errors. Preparation of operating instructions. Documentation of program development. Analysis of system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Leadership and/or mentoring at the more senior levels. Skills & experience Experience developing Java software within the National Security environment. Experience developing other languages such as Python. Experience of developing on Linux. Experienced with Git version control. Knowledge of Agile Development using Scrum. Team leadership at the more senior levels. Experience in Oracle/ Relational Databases and/or Mongo. Proficiency in the use of Atlassian Suite - Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence.
