Prinicipal Data Scientist

We're looking for a Principal Data Scientist to lead the design of advanced machine learning and personalisation systems powering a global video streaming platform.

This is a highly influential role where you'll act as a technical authority in recommender systems, shaping algorithms, experimentation frameworks, and ML infrastructure that drive personalised user experiences at scale.

You'll partner closely with product, engineering, marketing, and content teams, guiding solutions from concept through to production - and helping set the standard for how data science is practiced across the organisation.

What You'll Do

• Act as a subject-matter expert in recommendation systems and personalisation
• Lead algorithm design, rapid prototyping, and technical reviews for ML/AI models
• Define modelling and experimentation frameworks used across the team
• Partner with engineering and architecture teams to integrate ML solutions into real-time systems
• Drive innovation across the ML lifecycle, tools, and infrastructure
• Influence priorities across multiple business verticals and initiatives
• Foster a strong, motivating data science culture

• 6+ years' experience in data science, machine learning, or software development
• Deep expertise in recommender systems and deep learning (TensorFlow)
• Strong Python skills, plus experience with SQL, PySpark, and feature stores
• Experience deploying ML systems on Google Cloud Platform (Vertex AI, Kubeflow, Airflow)
• Solid understanding of real-time and near-real-time ML systems
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
